SESAME

Awarded #1 'Best of Expo', Sesame is a revolutionary smart home technology designed to lead the next generation of home automation. To gain mechatronic experience, I performed the project's mechanical, electrical, and computer science design. I gained immense experience with SolidWorks, C++, Arduino controls, sensor/motor selection, soldering, bench testing, and more. Unfortunately, due to ongoing patent developments, most of the project’s design is redacted from this section; however, please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Fun Facts:

  • I led a team of 3 engineers to develop the first version of Sesame which competed in the University of Cincinnati’s ‘Innovation Challenge’

  • Sesame is two systems that work in conjunction with each other to perform the task at hand

Fun Facts:

  • Initially denied as an applicable project for senior design and turned down by 6 engineers as possible teammates, Sesame was extremely misunderstood until the 2024 engineering EXPO.

  • Determined to prove the vision behind Sesame, over 4 months, I slept in the university lab 5 nights and worked over sixty 18 to 20 hour shifts to complete the first working prototype.

Fun Facts:

  • 3 different 3D-printing materials were tested throughout the development phase

  • Due to rapid printing, testing, breaking, and reiterating techniques, Sesame has spent almost 1000 hours on my domestic 3D printer.
